PA Full Practice Authority Legislation---Update

Pennsylvania Nurse Practitioners:
New Champions

2017 is shaping up to be an exciting one for the Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners and our efforts to gain full practice authority.  We are going to build on our momentum from last year - including a 41-to-9 victory in the state Senate - and we need your help.

First things first, we have new lead sponsor in the State Senate. Senator Camera Bartolotta of Washington County has taken up the mantle of Pennsylvania patients and will introduce full practice authority legislation this spring. We expect the new number to be Senate Bill 25. Please take a moment and send a thank you note to Senator Bartolotta for her support!

In the State House, Representative Jesse Topper of Bedford County will re-introduce his full practice authority bill. We expect the new number to be House Bill 100. Please send Rep. Topper a thank you for his continued support!
Committee Chairs
Full committee lists for the House and Senate have been announced. Senator Robert Tomlinson will continue to serve as Chairman of the Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure. Representative Mark Mustio will serve as Chairman of the House Professional Licensure committee, replacing Rep. Julie Harhart who retired at the end of last year.
Time is of the Essence: Call TODAY
Right now is a critical time for legislation as lawmakers decide which bills they want to co-sponsor.

We need your help to make sure your Senator and Representative co-sponsor the legislation.

PLEASE call your elected officials in Harrisburg TODAY and ask them to cosponsor the bills.

Here are the steps:
  1. Look up contact info for your State Representative and Senator. You can find it here.
  2. Call, email or send a contact form.
  3. Tell your representative: "I'm a constituent and I'd like Representative [NAME] to cosponsor Rep. Topper's bill to modernize Pennsylvania's Nurse Practitioner law. It will expand access, improve quality and lower costs for patients."
  4. Tell your senator: "I'm a constituent and I'd like Senator [NAME] to cosponsor Sen. Bartolotta's bill to modernize Pennsylvania's Nurse Practitioner law. It will expand access, improve quality and lower costs for patients."
  5. Say thank you!
The more cosponsors a bill starts with, the better its chances.

With your help, we'll have a great start to 2017!
